The audience get the chance to vote for their favourite film - "The People's Choice". Each voting slip goes into a draw for the chance to win two nights bed and breakfast for two people at the famous Clachaig Inn at Glencoe. Drawn after the interval on Saturday evening.

AsiemutDirected and produced by Olivier Higgins, Mélanie Carrier. - Olivier Higgins and Melanie Carter pedal 8,000 miles across Asia from Mongolia to Calcutta.

This film won a Special Jury Mention at the 2006 Banff Mountain Film Festival. Will says "I still get sweaty palms just watching the video". Come and see this film on Saturday and get sweaty hands too! Will is appearing at the festival after the interval on Saturday morning, discussing the making of the extreme sport films he is involved with.

beyond iraqDirected by Tom Eldridge, Produced by Annalisa Hodgkins - Beyond Iraq follows young soldiers, severely injured during the War in Iraq, as they find freedom and adventure in the Rocky Mountains on the Challenge Aspen program. The program  provides recreational, cultural, competitive and educational experiences for individuals who have mental or physical disabilities. The veterans are at first skeptical of the  program, wary of causing more harm to their already severely injured bodies. They soon find their fears are groundless as they enjoy the mountain sports, encouraged and supported by the Challenge Aspen team. They return to their lives of rehabilitation in hospitals with revitalized spirits and a new sense of purpose. Uplifting and intriguing, Beyond Iraq includes awe-inspiring footage of severely disabled veterans as they ski, snowboard, and sit-ski. The footage is supplemented with discerning interviews that reveal how these soldiers have changed through their experience of war in Iraq. A Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour Film.

CayeshDirected and produced by Steve House - A one day ascent of a new route on the west face of Cayesh in Peru, filmed by the two climbers, Steve House and Marko Prezelj. . Two members of Kinloss Mountain Rescue Team on the second winter ascent of Cresta Climb (Grade III) on Ben Nevis. This black and white "silent" movie has step by step commentary with leader Sullivan at times climbing only with "moral support". Filmed by Hamish McInnes.

Two short pieces from the BBC global production "St Kilda - a European Opera, Echo of the Birds" recorded earlier this year. The French vertical dance company Retouramont perform a dramatic ariel ballet suspended from the Hebridean cliffs. See website for more information.

First Ascent - Didier Versus the Cobra. USA, 2006, 25 minutes

The elegant granite Cobra Crack in Squamish, British Columbia, is perhaps the hardest crack climb in the world, and Swiss climber Didier Berthod is one of the world's best crack climbers. Didier spends months in his epic quest to grab the first ascent. This film won the Best Short Film Award at the Banff Mountain Film Festival 2006.

Mountains without Barriers. USA, 2006, 24 minutes.

Two blind men and a man with no legs tackle the Cassin Route on the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a 1,000 ft rock tower in Italy. This film features the blind climber Erik Weihenmayer who climbed Everest in the film "Farther than the Eye Can See", which we screened in 2005, and was voted "Most Inspirational Film" at the recent Boulder Adventure Film Festival. Directed and produced by Vebjørn Hagen - The first unsupported crossing of the South Patagonian Icecap with Børge Ousland and Thomas Ulrich.

Every spring, in the Great Lakes region, the wary hen lays and incubates her eggs in a nest high in the trees. Just 24 hours after hatching, the tiny ducklings must make the perilous leap to the ground below to begin life in the wild. This age-old rite is rarely observed by humans. St Kilda - a European Opera - Echo of the Birds, 2007, 40 minutes.

Duet and Death on St KildaDCA will be screening two short films from this spectacular project, which celebrated the lives and legacy of the people of St Kilda through contemporary European music and new media. The project featured vertigo-inducing film of the French vertical dance company Retouramont performing a dramatic aerial ballet suspended from the Hebridean cliffs. The project was shot by cinematographer Keith Partridge (who also shot Touching The Void and the Beckoning Silence) who will be present at the screening together with some of the people behind the production. Best of JoProduced and Directed by Logan Carlstrom. A stop-action Lego film about a coffee addicted gut named Jo. He is eager to try all the mountain sports available, such as climbing, skiing and fishing.

Wild Climbs: Czech Republic, UK, 1999, 30 minutes.

In 1999 Andy Cave and Leo Houlding were two British climbers already with a world-wide reputation. Both are bold, confident and incredibly talented and this film from the "Wild Climb" series shows skill and determination which brought the sport into the 21st century.

Yo-Yo. UK, 1960, 10 minutes

Film by kind permission of Rhona Weir. Classic film of Joe Moriaty on a famous second ascent of Yo-Yo in Glencoe in 1959. Filmed by Tom Weir. There is a photograph of this ascent in the book "High Endeavours", the story of the life of Robin Smith by Jimmy Cruickshank.
